About

Paisley and Plaid is a trio that draws inspiration from around the world and around the corner. They sing about love, justice, beauty and hanging out the washing. They weave their voices together in gorgeous harmonies, sometimes a cappella and sometimes with guitar, ukulele and percussion.

Georgie Sinha

Georgie has been performing since she was 8 years old, in theatre and music.  At 16 years of age she regularly sang with 15 piece jazz band ‘Hyperjazz’ at various venues and events around Geelong, and also as a guest vocalist with the Geelong Concert Band.

Around this time she also formed an A Cappella group with her friends, named ‘Sol’ who performed a multicultural repertoire at festivals, art galleries and vocal competitions. Nearing the end of high school, Georgie had the exciting opportunity to study Jazz voice at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary school for 2 years.

Since then, Georgie has been performing solo, at weddings, in choirs, recording for radio commercials & writers, and composing her own pieces, in many different forms.   The future looks bright, with plans to finish music studies, pick up the guitar again, and there’s a dream to learn Banjo one day!  Oh yes.  Banjo.

Alan Davies

Alan is a singer, guitarist and choir leader. Ever since listening to Simon and Garfunkel as a teenager, he has been hooked on harmony singing, and many years later decided maybe he could do it himself. He has been singing in choirs and small ensembles since the 1990s, and has led the Newport Community Choir since 2008. Alan’s musical influences range from Georgian choral music to shape-note hymns, the Everly Brothers and the Wailin’ Jennys.

Alan is very involved in the Newport Fiddle & Folk Club, is also a marriage celebrant, a theatre technician and generally there’s not much he can’t do!

Steph Payne

Steph has a big voice, a big laugh and a big smile. Steph directs community choirs, teaches ukulele and is in many bands and ensembles. If there are harmonies to sing, she’ll be there!

Steph is also in Queens of the West – jazzy, bluesy 8 piece band and the Charter Flights – cover band and runs Unstrung Music and Circlesinging – vocal improvisation events.
